Blood Flow Restriction Therapy

What is blood flow restriction therapy?

Blood flow restriction therapy is a treatment technique that uses a specialized machine to increase muscle strength quicker than traditional exercise - offering high-intensity benefits with lower intensity training. UMMC’s physical therapists are experts in the proper application and monitoring of this advanced treatment technique. During specific exercises, a state-of-the-art machine restricts venous return, while allowing arterial blood flow. UMMC is the only provider of blood flow restriction training in central Mississippi.
